Our Research Library has a huge wealth of information and photographs on Fencible families that settled in Howick. This would be of great interest for anyone doing their family genealogy and for Historians interested in the History of Howick and surrounding areas.

Our Library

We have a massive wealth of information alone from Rev. Hattaway who wrote funny stories about locals and upset his superiors. One could really write a book or make a movie of his life!!!

Our library focuses on the history and material life in early Auckland, including early Maori history and other cultures who settled in Auckland from the 1840’s-1880’s period.

Research by appointment

The Research Library is open by appointment only. Hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 10am to 3:00pm.

Appointments must be made in advance and requests should clearly indicate the purpose of the visit. For additional information or to schedule an appointment please email or call (09) 5769506.

Please note that no material may be removed from the library.
