Filming & Photography

Set in over seven acres of heritage gardens and with over 30 historic buildings, the museum makes an ideal location for documentaries, dramas, photography and venue filming.


Interiors and exteriors can be modified to depict periods in time ranging from mid nineteenth century to early twentieth century.

Features of filming at the Village

  • Parking, including some off street parking (plus discreet additional vehicle access close to some buildings)

  • Changing rooms, shower and toilet facilities

  • Cafe or catering by arrangement

  • Use of over 30 heritage buildings ranging from a wealthy landowner’s residence to a sod cottage beside a large pond

  • A blacksmith’s shop, general store, Victorian school, mill and water wheel help complete the picture of Auckland at an early stage of development

  • A number of props are available for hire by separate arrangement
